Bloomsday Dubliners Poster Series

Bloomsday is a celebration of the life and works of Irish novelist and poet James Joyce. The annual festival, which takes place on the 16th of June, is named after Leopold Bloom, the main character in Joyce’s most famous work Ulysses. I was commissioned to produce a series of posters for a special Bloomsday that marked 100 years since the day Ulysses was set.

Each of these posters represent one of the fifteen short stories from Joyce’s “Dubliners”, a collection of stories which captures a darker side of early twentieth century Dublin and its people. The posters were used to accompany street performances by ‘The Here Comes Everybody Players’, a theatrical group from Boston.
